JoEllen Koerner is an author, editor, speaker, researcher, educator and nurse executive leader well known for her efforts to foster high standards in nursing. She is the past president of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and recipient of the Lifetime Distinguished Service Award from the AONE Institute for Patient Care Research & Education. With extensive executive level management/leadership experience in health care administration, education, regulation, & e-commerce, her initial career efforts focused on nursing education and service in corporate health systems. She then moved into virtual education with curriculum modeling & delivery that connects the philosophy and clinical practice of professional nursing. As Founder of Nurse MetriX, Dr. Koerner facilitated the design of a web-based toolkit that promotes body/mind/spirit balance of the healthcare workforce in both practice and education. Her international and voluntary work is focused on workforce development for underrepresented sectors of society.
